Professor Emeritus Dr. Anuk Lertthanasathien, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI), remarked, “To achieve sustainable economic and social stability in line with national strategy, it is essential to leverage knowledge and advancements in science, technology, research, and innovation, along with developing suitable human resources as a key mechanism to help the country escape the middle-income trap. The national strategy emphasizes a development agenda focused on transforming the country's economic structure towards an innovation-driven economy. Therefore, the Ministry of MHESI is committed to nurturing and enhancing the capabilities of innovative entrepreneurs and developing an innovation ecosystem in various fields to facilitate the creation and transformation of innovations into economic value and social benefits, utilizing knowledge, research outcomes, and innovations to assist the public, society, and the business sector. At the same time, we will create mechanisms for collaboration to bring leading international research and innovations to develop and apply to enhance the capabilities of domestic research and innovation.
Thus, the Ministry of MHESI believes that the organization of "National Innovation Day" will be a crucial mechanism to raise awareness, promote, and stimulate the thinking, development, and enhancement of Thai innovations, which will continuously and tangibly benefit the country's development. It serves as a platform for communicating and raising awareness of the potential of Thai entrepreneurs, agencies, and innovators, demonstrating that Thailand and its people can create and develop innovations that are on par with leading innovative countries.
Furthermore, "National Innovation Day" will be celebrated on October 5th each year. The National Innovation Agency (Public Organization) or NIA has been continuously organizing the Innovation Awards for the 17th year. The National Innovation Award for "Outstanding Innovation Organization" is presented to organizations that exemplify outstanding innovation management, serving as a model for the country and supporting effective approaches to using innovation to address various crises, while raising awareness of the importance of systematic innovation management that will genuinely promote sustainable growth for organizations.
